FedEx South, aka, Viewing is Optional

I don't know about you, but I think that the summer went by a little too quickly this year.  I'm not sure I'm ready to watch football again.  I mean, the Nats are just now doing well.  They are actually scoring runs (almost) every game.  And, who can help but notice how much Gio Gonzalez looks like Ray Romano?

Who needs college football?

UGH... the answer?  We all do.  As much as we hate it, and, Lord - I HATE IT - I will watch tomorrow evening with maybe a blankie.  Maybe a beverage.  Maybe both.

All I know is that I swore off FedEx last year, and this game is merely FedEx South - compliments of a tasty chicken sandwich and waffle fries (with ketchup and Texas Pete).  Why oh why must Weaver put us through this?  Was last season not painful enough?  Who really had the bright idea that, "Hey!  Let's put Tech up against... Alabama!  That'll be a great game."  Can't we let The U embarrass themselves... or Florida... or even Florida State?  Pick any team from Florida and I guarantee they'd do better than us tomorrow.

Just thinking about it is giving me heartburn.

This is how I feel about tomorrow:

OK, maybe without the lei.

And those sunglasses.

The general feeling I have been getting from the youngsters, i.e., those who are currently attending VT, is that Beamer needs to go.  But he isn't.  Folks, this man is going to stay here until he wins a National Championship or dies, and at this rate, I think the latter is more likely.  You all know how I felt about Beamer a couple seasons ago.  I drank the Kool-Aid.  But last season was the final straw.  Replacing Stiney with another inept Offensive Coordinator is not going to solve anything.   You know what?  I am going to just follow Bud Foster's career from now on.  Wherever he goes, I'll go.  Give 'em hell, Bud!

Here is what my friend (an Auburn fan) says of our new OC, Scot Loeffler, and I quote:

"Omg.. I just realized Scott Loeffler is the VT offensive coordinator ... I hope he is better at VT than he was at Auburn last year! Loefflers offense was the main reason Auburn only won 3 games all year having their worst season in over a 100 years. His leadership and offensive schemes are gosh awful. Beamer will have to step in and provide leadership. Loeffler then tried blaming the bad season on poor recruits but that's impossible b/c Auburn had 3 years in a row of top 10 recruiting. I'm so sorry VT ended up w Loeffler.. Whoever made that hire was clueless :-/ "

HAHAHAHA! Isn't that just hilarious?? Beamer = leadership! Whoever hired him... aka, Weaves = clueless??

Sigh.  Sob a little.

I refuse to look at this as a normal game.  Anytime we play an opponent this season who is going to crush us, NO GAME PREVIEW!  Take that, Weaves!  I take your schedule and say SHOVE IT!

I'll just talk about random things, like hair, or maybe David Wilson.  I will post things like this:

So yes, I will try to hang in there this season.  The Giraffe, Beamer, Weaves are all trying to pull me down - to pull US DOWN!  But I'll do it for you.  You hang in there, kid!  Another season with a TE as our QB, no biggie!  Another season starting with a devastating loss?  Who cares!  We are Hokies, darn it, and we know how to roll with the coaster.  Go with the flow.  Cling to a sinking ship.

You saw Beamer.  He's on the ship.

... a Viking ship?

Oh geez, his eyes follow you wherever you go.  Scary.

So there it is my friends, the first blog of the new season.  Nothing to pee your pants about.  Let's just see if tomorrow gives us ANYTHING to look forward to.  I am going to keep a very small notepad next to me to keep track of such things.  You should just drink heavily.  If you don't drink, try operating heavy machinery or something else to take your mind off the game.

Love and miss D Tapp,
The B.S.C.
